ROLI has officially announced that it is discontinuing its Seaboard Grand, the original incarnation of its expressive synthesizer and controller design. Introduced in 2013, the Seaboard Grand built on the traditional layout of the piano, but used completely different materials, and allowing for extensive expressive control over each note. A short tutorial for connecting LUMI keys as a standard MIDI keyboard with iPad.LUMI by Roli:https://playlumi.commidimittr:https://apps.apple.com/us/app/midi. GarageBand is extremely easy to set up with ROLI Dashboard. Using ROLI Dashboard load the Note Grid app mode onto your Lightpad Block, or use the default factory settings of your Seaboard Block. In GarageBand, create a software instrument track. Load Equator into this track for full 5D expression, or load one of GarageBand instrument. R/ROLI: A sub dedicated to all things ROLI. So I know that Noise app instruments can be recorded to GarageBand via the external app as a source, however, some new sounds do not come through for some reason (I bought the Sax sounds). The only way I was able to record is by connecting my iPad running the Noise with Seaboard to the computer.

The Seaboard RISE and BLOCKS transmit MIDI over Bluetooth, and can be connected to mobile devices which can receive MIDI and produce sound! Take a look here for guides on the different methods of connecting the Seaboard.
There are many mobile music apps available, and they unlock the expressive potential of the the Seaboard RISE and BLOCKS to varying degrees. While the Seaboard uses standard MIDI messages to transmit its dimensions of touch, not all apps will be able to receive and respond to them, and others just need a little setting up. Our own app NOISE is designed specifically for BLOCKS.
Below are a handful of mobile apps which we recommend for using with the Seaboard or BLOCKS.
NOISE
Our own free mobile app NOISE is custom-designed for BLOCKS and is available for iOS and Google Pixel. NOISE is a performance instrument that also features recording, looping, and export features, as well as an ever-growing library of available ROLI and artist soundpacks. In addition to a standalone app, it's also available as an AU plugin for use in mobile digital audio workstations like GarageBand for iOS.
Seaboard 5D
Our own free mobile app, Seaboard 5Duses the Equator sound engine – which ships with every Seaboard – and has been designed from the ground up to be the perfect companion for the Seaboard's expressive dimensions of touch.
GeoShred
GeoShred is an expressive iOS app that pairs physical modeling synthesis with MPE compatibility, making it a great match for the Seaboard and Lightpad Block. Setting it up with the RISE and Lightpad Block is simple: see this article for details.
GarageBand iOS
Apple GarageBand on iOS now supports MPE and allows for expressive control of the 5 dimensions of touch when using the Seaboard RISE or Lightpad Block as controllers. With a few simple steps, you’ll be able to use the full expressive range of your RISE or Lightpad Block with GarageBand for iOS; see this article for details.
Cubasis
Cubasis is a great multi-timbral app and with a little setting up it can give the full range of expression offered by the Seaboard. You will need to create multiple tracks, each one responding to a single channel from the range you have selected in ROLI Dashboard (what channel range should I use?). To make the sound respond to each dimension of touch, just assign the Seaboard's MIDI messages to a parameter in the synth.
For example, Strike is transmitted as velocity, and Slide is transmitted as CC74.
Animoog
Animoog is a great instrument compatible with MPE. so before using it with the Seaboard, set the Seaboard to Single Channel mode in ROLI Dashboard. Animoog also doesn't currently respond to Slide, but will give great response to Press (aftertouch) and Strike (velocity).
NanoStudio
NanoStudio is another multi-timbral app which can be made to respond to each of the Seaboard's dimensions of touch with a little setting up. You will need to create multiple tracks, each one responding to a single channel from the range you have selected in ROLI Dashboard (what channel range should I use?). To make the sound respond to each dimension of touch, just assign the Seaboard's MIDI messages to a parameter in the synth.

What is Audiobus? — Audiobus isan award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you useyour other music apps together. Chain effects on your favouritesynth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app likeGarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface outputfor each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive asynth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDIkeyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.

Hello folks!
I'm interested in the Roli Seaboard so I downloaded Noise and tried it in Garageband and it sounded very nice. The keyboard in GB let me play with slides and bends and it was very expressive and reacted when I moved my fingers up/down. Sliding my fingers across all notes made a smooth slide sound. I loaded Noise in my favorite app Cubasis and to my disappointment I could not control Noise the way I did in GB. So I tried Noise with AUM and BM3 and it was the same as in Cubasis. Does this mean that the Roli Seaboard will work in GB but not Cubasis, AUM and BM3 (at least the way it's designed to work)?
Thank you

those other daws arent setup for MPE (which is what the seaboard uses and what GB tries to approximate with the on screen pitchbending
the seaboard will work with the other daws, but it may take some work arounds to get it to work in MPE mode

Ok thank you for your answer. But will the seaboard work with Noise loaded inside Cubasis or the other DAWs? I guess Noise will not receive MPE data from seaboard when loaded inside Cubasis.
right now noise doesn't receive midi on its own. so you'd have to get the daw to understand MPE, right now GB is best at it, but there might be multi channel work arounds. (or roli might later update noise to take midi)
Is Auria Pro compatible with MPE? I guess I’ll ask Rim.
Thank you @RubenDari
@LFS is MPE coming to Cubasis in a not too distant future?I was surprised to see the MPE working with AU... didn’t know this was possible. Makes Animoog AU even more desirable.
If you bought the Animoog midi expansion you can do the same in Cubasis as you can in GarageBand by using Animoogs keyboard to play the Noise AU

I'm using the iPad version of Animoog and loading noise into Cubasis as AU.

Well, guess I'll stick with GarageBand for a while, till the competitors have full MPE support :-)
And GB offers other goodies. the built in drummer and Alchemy are sooooo great. But there are at least 2 bugs with GB running NOISE.
First: with 4 tracks I start getting a message that the plugin was disabled because of an error. And the Popup box Message offers 2 buttons 'reactivate' and 'disable' Audio unit.
Second: mixdown doesn't work properly, NOISE tracks have dropout in the sound. So forget about exporting the project as an audio file.
Well, guess I can transfer the project to my Mac, import in Logic, find the according sounds in Equator and export an MP3 from there. Hope that will work. This way I can use the simplicity of GB iOS to create and finish on a full blown DAW.

Yes. So far I’ve been experimenting with just 1 or 2 noise tracks at a time in GB. Then bounce to Audio within GB before adding more.
The only other issue here is that whenever you bounce a track GB creates backup copies of the project so there are endless projects all over the place.
Noise works fine with AUM and my seaboard blocks. Even with mpe.

GeoShred is an excellent MPE controller. It has several MIDI presets for how to output its MIDI and works well with Noise, Animoog, and the PPG apps. You need to be aware of setting the MIDI parameters to match whatever synth(s) you're using (e.g. pitchbend range) to get the most out of such a setup.
Thank you @InfoCheck it was geoshred that got me interested in roli blocks.

For those with Macs GarageBand on Mac can load iOS GarageBand projects direct from the cloud.
I got a SeaboardRise today!Noise-Au works as expcted in Aum,AuriaPro,AB:All you have to do is put the input channel to ALL.Then it works (on an iPadPro) like when connected to an iMac running Equator.
Still waiting for an update concerning the two SWAM -Packs which still do not appear in NoiseAu!!!@Schimanski great news! Can't wait for the seaboard.

I've bought a seaboard block,it's really fantastic in Noise (standalone),but can`t play like you in GB ('..Sliding my fingers across all notes made a smooth slide sound...',it's not happen on my ipad pro 9.7).However i try to setting, it just like a normal keyboard in GB.
yes dude,i`ve turned it on,but it still no working.BUT~Seaboard block work great on my Noise and Geosherd..../-
